The Harvey Christ Radio Hour by Anna Friz

Description of the Venue

Rev. É. Norm, Rev. Anna Montana, Rev. Joalien, and Rev. Randy Peters

The Harvey Christ Radio Hour: a live weekly radio show produced by a collective and heard on CKUT 90.3FM in Montreal since October 2000. The show is loosely inspired by gospel radio formats and features storytelling and sermons, hymns played live in studio, baptisms, exorcisms, barn burning, etc. We satirize dogmatic beliefs-- whether religious, political or pop cultural-- and seek to mix the serious with the bizarre as an antidote to mainstream radio and religion. Contact us at harveychrist@ckut.ca

The Harvey Christ Radio Hour is heard on Tuesday nights 11PM-Midnight EST (GMT -5) at www.ckut.ca

The Harvey Christ Manifesto:

Insofar as We True Believers in Harvey Christ DO believe in religious tolerance for all those heathens and heretics, pagans, atheists, protestants, Muslims, Catholics and all those who, in lands abroad and here in Harveyland (the nation until recently called Canada) would deny or reject the One True or Truish Faith in the Often Irrefutable and 4 Times out of 10 Inerrant Word of Harvey Christ whom we would like to imply is the Second and Only Son of God:

...and so whereby and then and having said that, We the True Believers in Harvey Christ take the following to be often true and occasionally self-evident:

1) The First Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that of UNCERTAIN THEOLOGY.

When God is subjected to parameters, limits or even words, God ceases to exist. When God is narrowly defined it opens itself to EVIL and opens one's mind to the hideous "smug devils".

The "smug devils" are the worst kind of devils because they close the soul to the Harvey which is the true spirit of the God-thing.

We in Harvey Christ shovel scorn into great and, yea, heaping buckets which we then unload upon all "Certain Theology" until it is covered utterly and forever.

2) The Second Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is the belief and unbending faith in Pure, Raw, Unbridled and Unadulterated Syncretism.

3) The Third Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is as follows: "Them that has, gets. Them that got none will get some too."

4) The Forth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is an abiding faith in the Ecstasy of the Word. Meaning is secondary, form is arbitrary and syntax is not as important as one might think it is.

5) The Fifth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that there is no God like the No-God, and no No-God like the No-No-God. The closer you get to the IMPOSED GOD the less of the God you see. The real God is seen by retreating from the No-No-God.

6) The Sixth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that we were created to begin where the God ended. Therefore, Harvey Christians must exercise the CREATIVE MUSCLE to build a universe that is greater that the one in which we physically exist. This will bring to completion the AGE OF THE SPIRIT and end all of our difficulties.

7) The Seventh Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that we must talk to the animals, walk with the animals, only kill them once in a while and don't fuck with the animals in any significant way and they will talk to us.

8) The Eighth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity would suggest that the spray that comes from my mouth when I laugh with Harvey is the weightless ambrosia of the ONE GOD which blesses all upon whom it falls and who then collapse and speak in tongues.

9) The Ninth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that somebody's got to pay. If not in the Grand Karmic Equation, then at least for the beer at the end of the night. And it is good.

10) The Tenth Essential Tenet of Harvey Christianity is that which (unmentionable) my body is equal in God-Quotient to that which enters my (unmentionable) on any given day with 4 or 5 hours of sunlight.
