ART'S BIRTHDAY - Vancouver Schedule in PST

Western Front in Vancouver (GMT minus 8 hours)
303 East 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V5T 1S1

January 16, open to the public from 3 pm to 6 pm PST - a day for informal exchanges and test connections between remote participants.

January 17th will focus on celebration starting with Margaret Dragu on line with Tagny Duff in Montreal at 4 pm PST.

The Artist Run Limousine will deliver Art to the Western Front.
Arrival at 7 pm PST, celebration continues until midnight.

4 pm - Margaret Dragu and Tagny Duff will choose 13 performance actions by artists they have seen and re-enact them through their own metamorphosis of memory, time and gesture.

5 pm to 7 pm - Art goes for a tour in the Artist Run Limousine. The journey's path is streamed to the Scrambler and iced onto a cake using a Lego Robot.

7 pm - Art arrives at the Western Front and the celebration begins.

8 pm - "Arts Annual Exam : or More Hospitals Use Unsterilized Instruments" performance by Cece Wyss, Paul Lang, Lynn Hill and Thirza Cuthand.

The space will be occupied by a number of devices that respond to the Scrambler. Diana Burgoyne will do two unscheduled performances with a hand made electronic mask.

Hank Bull will play piano variations on the theme of happy birthday. The sounds of various devices being activated by the Scrambler will be mixed together to create an endless soundtrack of relay clicks, motor turns, and other noises.

Cake crushing machine .. remote sledge hammer .. network activity sprits glitter into air .. auto crepe cooker .. lovely designs of coloured icing tracing the limousine's route .. motion detectors .. sound level meters .. photosensors on the walls measuring shadow as people move through the space .. a ghostly MIDI piano that plays improvisations on "Happy Birthday" in response to cake candle lights around the world .. a motorized etchasketch.
